19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and frequent reactions on court had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and play positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet saved four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
