Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident left him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
